美國餐廳的習慣，吃飯時都會點一大杯飲料，所以侍者一定會先問你What do you like to drink。也有人會這么說，Can I get you something to drink?一般餐廳都會提供的有Coke，Diet Coke，Sprite，Iced Tea，以及Lemonade 等。如果什麼都不要，就說Just water
值得注意的是，在一般的速食店提到drink 都是指soft drink 而言。但是一般人說到have a drink 時，他們多半指的是alcoholic，也就是含酒精的飲料。所以如果有人問你，「Come on, have a drink with us.」 他絕不是要你跟他們一起喝可樂的意思，而是要你跟他們一起喝酒啦!
